TIME TO REPRESENT

In the underground chamber where Ben was judged by Smokey, there was a wall carving depicting what appears to be Smokey and the Egyptian deity Anubis.

Anubis is the jackal god of the afterlife. He was the protector of the deceased and their souls on their long journey through the afterlife. In later dynasties, he was replaced by Osiris, the god-king of the underworld.

Set was depicted as a serpent who tricked Osiris so he could become the ruler of Egypt. He killed Osiris and cast his body throughout the Nile. Osiris' wife collected the body parts, reconstructed them, and had a son, Horace, who waged war against Set. Horace prevailed, and Osiris returned to become a ruler of the underworld.

It is possible that the graphic represents the mythic conflict between Egyptian gods Set and Osiris (Anubis) with MIB as Set and Jacob as Anubis.
