When Ben is digging his own grave, Flocke appears. He tells Ben that there is a rifle 200 yards away in a jungle clearing that he could use to kill Ilana. Flocke says that he would have to be quick to kill her because she would not hesitate to kill him.
With a simple wave of a finger, Flocke snaps the shackle on Ben's ankle, giving him the means to escape the graveyard.
>>> Flocke apparently has witchcraft command over physical objects like metal restraining devices. So he more than a shape shifting Smoke monster; he can change all forms of matter effortlessly. We are getting a very Harry Potter vibe here.
>>> Flocke wanted Ben to kill Ilana. Flocke could have killed Ilana as the Smoke monster - - - unless it was against one of the "rules." Is Ilana a "candidate" that cannot be harmed by MIB? Is Ilana a "family member" that cannot be killed (like Ben's outrage to off-island Widmore when Alex was killed by Keamy)?
>>> We are getting the impression that Flocke/MIB can be everywhere at any time. He was with Sawyer in the cave, then quickly with Claire at the Temple, then leading the remaining Others through the jungle, and now popping up at the beach. It may be that MIB, as a supernatural being, can actually duplicate Flocke and have him strategically placed around the island like kings on a checkerboard.
